Puri Recipe
Puri is puffed, deep-fried bread. To make puri, take 3 cups of Dhanraj Golden Elephant Brand Whole Wheat Flour and add a pinch of salt to it. Optional: add 1 tsp of oil or melted ghee to the flour. Gradually add water as required and knead the flour to form a stiff dough. Divide the dough into small balls. Using a rolling pin (belan) and flat surface (chakla), roll each ball into a small, flat disc. Keep the remaining dough covered to ensure it does not dry out. Heat oil in a fryer or deep pan. When the oil has reached optimum temperature for frying, add the rolled puri and fry. Gently press down on the puri with a slotted spatula to help it puff up. Flip the puri over when it has puffed up. Fry until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Enjoy crisp, golden puris hot for breakfast or with a curry.
